Every year at MYP, we put a lot of effort into making sure our young plant offering represents the best possible genetics on the market. The process starts in January with our variety list team meeting every couple of weeks to make decisions on which varieties will be dropped and added for the coming season. We take into consideration everything from sales numbers to performance, and even expanding our newer categories such as perennials. We rely heavily on visits from our suppliers during the winter, when they present their new genetics to us as well as on our Innovating team, who trials all of these upcoming varieties to test their performance in west Michigan. Our variety list is finalized after our annual trip to CAST, to make sure we have given each and every variety an opportunity to make the cut.
